Adsorption and membrane separation for removal and recovery of volatile organic compounds

Guoqiang Gan et al.

Summary: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are significant pollutants in the environment due to their toxicity, volatility, and poor degradability. Controlling their emission is urgent, and efficient technologies for removal and recovery are of great importance. Adsorption and membrane separation processes have been extensively studied and favored for their industrial prospects.

Discontinuous cooperative imprinting idea based on MXene-nanocomposite membrane for high structurally stable recognition and separation of shikimic acid

Yilin Wu et al.

Summary: Ti3C2Tx (MXene) has attracted research interest for its surface chemistry and 2D multilayer structure, but its oxidative fragility poses challenges for its application. In this study, Polydopamine (PDA) was used to form a stable multifunctional hybrid coating on MXene surfaces, enhancing its antioxidant properties and creating the first SA-imprinted sites. This cooperative imprinting strategy generated highly specific and strong binding sites for the template molecule.

Nanostructuring Polystyrene in a Melt

S. G. Polushin et al.

Summary: Through the method of electric birefringence, the melts of four fractions of polystyrene were studied and it was found that the electro-optical properties of the melt depend heavily on the length of the polymer chain. The fractions with the highest molecular weight exhibited an increase in the Kerr constant above temperatures of 120 degrees C. The anomalous temperature dependence of the Kerr constant being proportional to temperature can be explained by the rapid growth of polymer chain flexibility at high temperatures, known as the liquid-liquid transition, resulting in an increase in short-range orientational order associated with a change in the mutual orientation of phenyl rings.

Molecularly Imprinted and Cladded Nanoparticles Provide Better Phosphorylation Recognition

Jialing Zhao et al.

Summary: Phosphorylation is a common post-translational modification in mammals and is related to various diseases. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) show unique advantages as phosphorylation recognition reagents, but their performance is currently not ideal. The new approach RMTD-SIC allows for the preparation of monodispersed imprinted nanoparticles for improved phosphorylation recognition.
