Digital Practices by Citizens During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Findings From an International Multisite Study

The findings revealed that respondents who used social media messengers or multiple social media apps were more likely to experience loneliness, and those who were not members of an online community support group also reported higher levels of loneliness. People living in small towns and rural areas had lower psychological well-being and higher loneliness compared to those living in suburban and urban communities. Younger respondents, single adults, unemployed individuals, and those with lower levels of education were more prone to experiencing loneliness.
