Summary: Some organizations require employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment. This raises the question of whether existing employees should also meet newly introduced vaccination requirements. Objections to vaccination mandates commonly focus on the harm that may be inflicted on existing employees who are unwilling to be vaccinated. However, this objection does not necessarily imply that vaccination is unnecessary for certain jobs. This paper argues that if vaccination requirements can be justified for prospective employees, they should also be justified for existing employees, regardless of the asymmetry in consequences.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of masks used by SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals in blocking virus transmission. Viral RNA was only detected on the inner parts of masks, and there was no significant difference in viral load among different types of masks. There were significant differences in viral load between men and women and between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. The findings confirm the role of masks in preventing virus transmission and suggest their use by both infected and non-infected individuals.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of PPE in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection among healthcare workers in close contact with patients with the virus. The results indicate that appropriate PPE is sufficient to prevent infection, and there is a need to establish a system for a stable supply of PPE for healthcare workers.

Summary: The study assessed the risk of COVID-19 infection in healthcare workers and the effectiveness of face masks and face shields in a healthcare setting. It found that droplet spraying was the main pathway of infection, and that personal protective equipment significantly reduced the risk of infection.

Summary: The effectiveness of masks in preventing virus spread depends on the virus abundance level; surgical masks are effective in low-virus environments, while more advanced masks are needed in potentially virus-rich indoor settings like medical centers and hospitals. Masks work best when combined with other preventive measures such as ventilation and distancing.

Summary: According to the study, implementing a nationwide mask mandate based on using respirators with moderately high compliance during the early stages of the pandemic could have prevented its establishment in the USA. Respirators are more effective at reducing disease burden, especially when combined with other non-pharmaceutical interventions.
