An In Vitro and In Vivo Study of the Efficacy and Toxicity of Plant-Extract-Derived Silver Nanoparticles

Anjana S. Desai et al.

Summary: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have unique properties and are widely used in various fields. However, commercially acquired AgNPs have been found to be toxic and alternative synthesis techniques need to be found. This study synthesized AgNPs using plant extracts and studied their physico-chemical properties. Through in vitro and in vivo studies, it was found that the cytotoxicity and wound-healing capacity of AgNPs depend on their size, shape, and colloidal stability. AgNPs derived from turmeric extract showed excellent wound-healing capacity and the least toxic effects in the study.

Coating of ZnO Nanoparticle on Cotton Fabric to Create a Functional Textile with Enhanced Mechanical Properties

Imana Shahrin Tania et al.

Summary: This research aims to develop a functional textile with improved mechanical properties by synthesizing nano ZnO and applying it to cotton fabric through mechanical thermo-fixation techniques. The study shows that using nano ZnO with an emulsion significantly enhances both the mechanical and functional characteristics of the fabric.

Biogenic zinc-oxide nanoparticles of Moringa oleifera leaves abrogates rotenone induced neuroendocrine toxicity by regulation of oxidative stress and acetylcholinesterase activity

J. K. Akintunde et al.

Summary: This study investigated the biogenic synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles from Moringa oleifera leaves and their effects on key endocrine hormones, oxidative stress levels, and biochemical parameters associated with brain disorders. The results showed that ZnO NPs can modulate the hypothalamus-pituitary-testicular axis by regulating cerebral NO center dot, FSH, LH, testosterone, and AChE activity, while inducing the production of antioxidative enzymes.
