Summary: This article reports on the preparation of cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin films using a low-cost electrochemical technique from an aqueous electrolyte and investigates their properties. The possible growth potentials were optimized using cyclic voltammetry, and the sample grown at -0.7 V showed higher crystallinity and lower defect concentration.

Investigation of the effect of annealing conditions on electrodeposited CdTe thin films from non-aqueous bath

Dipmala P. Sali et al.

Summary: The effect of annealing conditions on CdTe layers obtained through electrodeposition has been investigated. Annealed samples show improved crystal structure and dense surface morphology, suitable for high efficiency thin film solar cells. Quenched samples exhibit better electrical behavior with fewer defects.

Electrodeposition and Characterization of CdTe thin films for photovoltaic applications

Dipmala P. Sali et al.

Summary: Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) is a direct band gap semiconductor with high absorption coefficient and less carrier diffusion length, making it promising for heterojunction thin film solar cell applications. Electrodeposited CdTe thin films exhibit polycrystalline structure without post-deposition heat treatment, showing high crystallinity, large grain size, and compactness. The reported growth procedure may be suitable for developing flexible thin film solar cell devices on plastic substrates.
