Optical and electrochromic properties of DC magnetron sputter deposited tungsten oxide thin films at different electrolyte concentrations and vertex potentials for smart window applications

K. Naveen Kumar et al.

Summary: The main focus of the study is to analyze the electrochromic properties of WO3 thin films, including cyclic voltammetry, diffusion co-efficient, and optical modulation, coloration efficiency, and optical bandgap. The experiment involved depositing WO3 thin films on FTO coated Glass substrate and conducting various characterizations such as SEM, XRD, UV-vis spectroscopy, and EDS analysis. The highest cathodic peak current density of 16.32 mA/cm(2) was achieved in 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte solution. The optical bandgap for colored and bleached states was determined to be 3.04 eV and 3.294 eV, respectively, for 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte concentration. The highest coloration efficiency of 121.02 cm(2)/C was observed in 0.8 M electrolyte concentration with a vertex potential of -0.6 to 0.6 V.

Structural and electrochemical studies of WO3 coated TiO2 nanorod hybrid thin films for electrochromic applications

G. V. Ashok Reddy et al.

Summary: This study presents the fabrication of TiO2 nanorods/WO3 hybrid thin films and investigates their electrochromic behavior. WO3 thin films were deposited at a constant temperature with varying oxygen partial pressures, while tungsten nanorods were grown on FTO coated glass substrates using a hydrothermal process. The optimized WO3 films were then coated on the TiO2 nanorod film. Material, optical, electrical, and electro-chemical analysis were conducted on the films. The enhanced coloration efficiency of the optimized WO3 films was attributed to their large active surface area, which facilitated H+ ions intercalation. The TiO2 nanorods/WO3 hybrid films exhibited good electrochemical properties, including a diffusion coefficient of 1.8 x 10-7 cm2/s, better than pure WO3 and TiO2 nanorods.

Summary: A set of Co-free high-entropy alloys with different compositions were fabricated and their solidification microstructures and compression properties were investigated. Different solidification microstructures were observed for different compositions, and the distribution of different phases in the alloys was studied. The strength of the alloys initially decreased and then increased with increasing Cr content, and the rise in strength was mainly attributed to solid solution strengthening, fine crystal strengthening, and precipitation of a certain phase.

G. V. Ashok Reddy et al.

Summary: Cerium oxide nanorods were successfully synthesized on FTO coated glass substrate by a hydro-thermal process, and optimized WO3 thin films were coated on the top. The improved CeO2/WO3 films exhibited higher cathodic peak current due to their increased active surface area and intercalation of H+ ions in the films. Furthermore, the CeO2 nanorods/WO3 hybrid films showed better electrochemical properties with a diffusion coefficient of 5.53 x 10-8 cm2/s.

Summary: The study investigates the optical properties of SiCNTs doped with different elements, showing significant differences in optical absorption, photoconductivity, dielectric function, and refractive index across different wavelength bands. The band structures of SiCNTs are found to be altered by doping elements, impacting their optical properties. Additionally, energy formation calculations suggest that SiCNTs are more stable when group-V elements replace Si atom, with the exception of N atom.
