Effect of microstructure on mechanical properties of titanium-steel explosive welding interface

Qiang Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of microstructure on the mechanical properties of titanium-steel explosive welding interface. Different zones with distinct microstructures were identified along the detonation direction, showing varying strengths and types of defects. The periodic wavy interface in the steady detonation zone exhibited the highest strength, while defects in the vortex area had significant effects on the mechanical properties.

Study on interfacial characteristics and properties of NiTi/Al-Mg joint by vaporizing foil actuator welding

Fei Du et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new type of impact welding technology called Vaporizing Foil Actuator Welding (VFAW), which has the advantages of high welding efficiency and small heat affected zone. The effects of different process parameters on the interface morphology, mechanical, and functional properties of NiTi/Al-Mg VFAW joints were analyzed through experiments. The results showed that high strength welding between NiTi and Al-Mg alloys was achieved, and the microstructure and hardness of the interface were affected by the difference in properties between the two alloys. The phase transformation temperatures of the VFAWed NiTi alloy were relatively stable, indicating the retention of the original shape memory function.
