Estimation of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) characteristics using simple indicative tests

Gurunath Guduru et al.

Summary: The design of hot recycled asphalt mixes with high RAP content is complex due to the need for recovering bitumen from the RAP material. This study aims to identify indices that can estimate the RAP characteristics without the need to recover the bitumen. Fragmentation test and Cohesion test were evaluated and found to correlate well with the physical properties of recovered bitumen and the bitumen content and type.
