Synthesis and characterization of amorphous-nanocrystalline Fe70Cr10Nb10B10 powders by mechanical alloying

Baris Avar et al.

Summary: This study discusses the structural, morphological, thermal and magnetic properties of amorphous-nanocrystalline Fe70Cr10Nb10B10 alloy. The formation and evaluation of the alloy's structure were examined using various techniques. The results show that the milling process led to the complete dissolution of certain elements into the Fe lattice, resulting in the formation of the amorphous phase. The magnetic properties of the alloy were found to be influenced by the amorphous phase content and the inter-diffusion of non-ferromagnetic elements.

Experimental and theoretical investigation of the effect of milling time on the magnetic properties of mechanically alloyed FeAlNi (wt%) powders

Chafika Nakib et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of milling time on magnetic properties of Fe50Al30Ni20 alloy powders using a high-energy planetary ball mill. Through SEM, magnetic measurements, and Mossbauer spectroscopy, it was found that B2-(Fe, Ni)Al is the dominant phase with Fe(Ni, Al) as the second strongest phase. The paramagnetic behavior of the alloy was observed after 8 hours of milling, while coercivity Hc and saturation magnetization remained finite in magnetic measurements.

Structural, microstructural characterisation and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline Fe-10 wt% Pb alloy powders synthesised by mechanical alloying process

Nesrine Hasnaoui et al.

Summary: Fe-10Pb (wt%) nanocrystalline powders were synthesized by mechanical alloying processes with a high-energy ball mill. The evolution of phase and magnetic properties were investigated as a function of milling time. Results showed that lattice parameter decreased and grain size reduced with increasing milling time, influencing the magnetic properties of the alloy nanoparticles.

Summary: Nanocrystalline Fe50Al35Ni15 powder was synthesized by mechanical alloying, with phase transformations and structural changes investigated by X-ray diffraction. The end product consisted of a mixture of nanosized intermetallic phases and disordered solid solutions, with crystal size refinement observed and lattice strain increases due to plastic deformations. Diffusion of Ni atoms and delayed formation of intermetallic phases were also observed.

Summary: The study focuses on the structural and magnetic properties evolution of Fe50Co25Ni25 nanocrystalline powder mixture processed by high-energy planetary ball milling under argon atmosphere. After 100 hours of milling, two nanocrystalline phases were identified, which exhibit soft ferromagnetic behavior and are related to dislocation density and stacking faults.
