Minimization of Surface Roughness and Residual Stress in Grinding Operations of Inconel 718

Mohsen Soori et al.

Summary: This study develops a virtual machining system to enhance the efficiency of part production by predicting and minimizing residual stress and surface toughness during grinding operations of Inconel 718. The cutting temperature is calculated using Inconel alloy Johnson-Cook law models and the residual stress is estimated using the finite element method. Surface roughness is predicted using the established virtual machining method. Grinding parameters are optimized using the Taguchi approach to reduce surface roughness and residual stress. Simulation and experimentation confirm the effectiveness of the developed technique in enhancing the quality and reliability of ground surfaces.

Experimental study on the mechanism of strain rate on grinding damage of zirconia ceramics

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of strain rate on the grinding damage of zirconia ceramics. Experimental results show that increasing the strain rate can significantly reduce the grinding force, improve the surface smoothness, and decrease the length of subsurface cracks. The direction of subsurface cracks is related to the internal defects of the material.

Process parameter optimization model for robotic abrasive belt grinding of aero-engine blades

Zhongqiang Yang et al.

Summary: In this paper, an improved NSGA-II multi-objective optimization algorithm is proposed to reduce carbon emissions during belt grinding while ensuring the same surface roughness and material removal rate. The algorithm shows better diversity and uniformity compared to existing algorithms and can effectively reduce carbon emissions during grinding. The optimization method presented in this paper has significant reference value for engineering practice.
