Comparison of the effects of Mg and Zn on the interface mismatch and compression properties of 50 vol% TiB2/Al composites

Hong-Yu Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that Mg has a better refining effect on TiB2 ceramic particles and can reduce the crystallographic mismatch degree of the Al/TiB2 interface. The addition of 6 wt% Mg significantly improves the strength and plasticity of the composite, while the addition of Zn leads to interface matching degree deterioration and sacrifices plasticity.

Influence of layer number on microstructure, mechanical properties and wear behavior of the TiN/Ti multilayer coatings fabricated by high-power magnetron sputtering deposition

Liyuan Sheng et al.

Summary: The research found that increasing the number of layers in the TiN/Ti multilayer coatings can enhance their elastic modulus and hardness, refine the grains, and promote the transformation of crystal orientation in the TiN layer. Additionally, the increased layer number significantly improves the adhesion of the TiN/Ti multilayer coatings.

Study on predicting the mechanical properties and fracturing behaviors of particle reinforced metal matrix composites by non-local approach

J. M. Zhan et al.

Summary: Peridynamic method is used to construct mesh-free composite models to predict the mechanical responses of particle reinforced metal matrix composites in this study. By considering the effects of varying particle shapes and interface properties, it is found that particle shape strongly influences the stress state, eventually affecting the fracturing properties.
