Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the mental health and quality of life of people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS). This study found that the unemployment rate increased during the pandemic, and limitations in daily activities had a predominant effect on quality of life. Additionally, the majority of PwMS reported experiencing at least one neuropsychiatric symptom.

Anti-social behaviour and economic decision-making: Panel experimental evidence in the wake of COVID-19

Summary: Using unique experimental panel data from China, collected before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, this study systematically examines the acute impact of a public health crisis on antisocial behavior and economic decision-making. By exploiting geographical variation in virus exposure and longitudinal experiments, the researchers find that participants who were more intensely exposed to the virus outbreak exhibited more antisocial behavior, while other economic and social preferences remained largely stable. This finding is robust to multiple hypothesis testing and a similar, though less pronounced, pattern is observed when alternative measures of virus exposure, reflecting societal concern and sentiment, are used.

The study also highlighted the important role of CSOs in mitigating the suffering through various interventions and emphasized the need for a holistic approach to address the crisis effectively.
