A highly sensitive coumarin-based fluorescent probe for visual detection of Cu2+in aqueous solution and its bioimaging in living cells

Junli Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly sensitive fluorescent probe named SJL was synthesized and characterized. SJL exhibited a remarkable fluorescence quenching response to Cu2 +, with a quenching efficiency of approximately 82.3%. The binding ratio of SJL-Cu2 + was determined to be 1:1, and it showed a good linear relationship at ultra-low concentrations, with a detection limit of 0.6μM. The probe SJL has been successfully used for the visualization of copper ions in Hela cells and glassfish larvae.

Li Liu et al.

Summary: LL3, a new hydrazone derivative based on carbazole and coumarin, was successfully synthesized and characterized. It serves as a dual-functional fluorescent probe for the identification of Cu2+ and ClO-. The detection mechanism involves complex formation with Cu2+ and specific fluorescence changes under the catalysis of ClO-. Additionally, LL3 can be used for live cell imaging and as a test strip for Cu2+ detection in water samples.

Novel fluorescent chemosensor sensitively detect copper (II) through the collaboration of quinoline and coumarin groups

Ji-Quan Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new fluorescent sensor CQ was designed to efficiently sense Cu2+ through the collaboration of quinoline and coumarin groups. CQ showed selective and sensitive fluorescent response to Cu2+ with aggregation-induced emission properties. Experiments and theoretical calculations revealed the coordination interactions of quinoline and coumarin groups, as well as the fluorescent response mechanism.

Water-soluble coumarin based sequential colorimetric and fluorescence on-off chemosensor for copper(II) and cyanide ions in water

Jalal Isaad et al.

Summary: A new water-soluble chemosensor Lg has been synthesized and characterized for the sequential detection of copper(II) and cyanide ions. The chemosensor exhibits quenched fluorescence and a redshift of absorbance in the presence of copper(II) cations, but strong fluorescence in the presence of other cations. Furthermore, the formed complex Lg/Cu2+ shows selective fluorescence in the presence of cyanide anions, with a clear blue shift in absorbance due to the release of Lg and formation of the stable complex Cu(CN)(2). The detection limits were calculated to be 0.34 and 0.13 mu M for copper(II) and cyanide ions, respectively.

Addressing the Exigent Role of a Coumarin Fluorophore toward Finding the Suitable Microenvironment of Biomimicking and Biomolecular Systems: Steering to Project the Drug Designing and Drug Delivery Study

Sandip Paul et al.

Summary: The photophysics of a novel fluorescent coumarin derivative, 4-azidocoumarin (4-AC), is well established by investigating its altered emission properties in cyclodextrins (CDs) and serum albumins (SAs). The enhanced emission of 4-AC in the organized assemblies of alpha-CD, beta-CD, and gamma-CD, as well as BSA and HSA, along with the decreased nonradiative decay process in CDs and SAs, suggests the incorporation of 4-AC into the hydrophobic core of the systems. Enhanced fluorescence anisotropy and motionally constrained environment are observed in both CD and SA systems, with binding constants and rotational correlation times calculated to assess the ligand's interactions. Additionally, solvent variation studies demonstrate changes in microenvironments around 4-AC due to its binding with biomimicking and biomolecular systems.
