Biomonitoring of DEET and DCBA in Canadian children following typical protective insect repellent use

Jennifer C. Gibson et al.

Summary: This study filled the knowledge gap regarding DEET exposure and toxicokinetics in children by examining real-world exposure data in Canadian children attending summer camps. The study found elevated levels of DEET and its metabolite DCBA in urine samples of children using insect repellent, even up to 18-22 hours post-application. The findings support the re-evaluation of DEET's risks by Health Canada.

Health Policy Challenges Posed By Shifting Demographics And Health Trends Among Immigrants To The United States

Arturo Vargas Bustamante et al.

Summary: The immigrant population in the United States has grown rapidly, posing challenges for health policy makers. Recent trends show disparities in immigrant health and health care, with continued inequalities among noncitizen immigrants. While some inequities have decreased, there are still persistent health care disparities that need to be addressed through policy changes.
