NtMYB12 requires for competition between flavonol and (pro)anthocyanin biosynthesis in Narcissus tazetta tepals

Jingwen Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the NtMYB12 gene was found to play an important role in the flavonol and phenylpropanoid metabolic pathways in Narcissus plants, and it can interact with other proteins to regulate flower color formation.

Red light-transmittance bagging promotes carotenoid accumulation of grapefruit during ripening

Xiulian Huang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that light-transmitting bags can affect carotenoid metabolism in grapefruits. Red light treatment significantly increases carotenoid content and transcription factors play a role in regulating carotenoid metabolism under light treatments. These findings have implications for improving the coloration and nutritional quality of grapefruits.

Several geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase isoforms supply metabolic substrates for carotenoid biosynthesis in tomato

M. Victoria Barja et al.

Summary: GGPPS family members in tomato's plastids interact with PSY isoforms, with SlG2 physically interacting with PSY proteins. CRISPR-Cas9 mutants showed that defects in SlG3 have a greater impact on carotenoid levels and derived phenotypes compared to defects in SlG2.

Transcriptome-Based WGCNA Analysis Reveals Regulated Metabolite Fluxes between Floral Color and Scent in Narcissus tazetta Flower

Jingwen Yang et al.

Summary: The link between the scent and color of Narcissus tazetta flowers is anticipated due to their biochemical origin and similar biological role. However, the regulatory mechanism of the correlation between fragrant components and color patterns remains unclear. Transcriptome-based analysis revealed spatial and temporal variation in pigment and fragrant components in different tissues of the flower, suggesting potential competition between floral pigment and fragrance during individual plant development and evolutionary development.

The circadian-controlled PIF8-BBX28 module regulates petal senescence in rose flowers by governing mitochondrial ROS homeostasis at night

Yi Zhang et al.

Summary: Research in roses has identified a circadian-regulated RhPIF8-RhBBX28 module that controls flower senescence by governing mitochondrial ROS homeostasis. RhBBX28 gene influences respiratory metabolism-related gene expression and directly represses SUCCINATE DEHYDROGENASE 1, a key player in mtROS homeostasis. The study sheds light on the regulation of ROS homeostasis in nonphotosynthetic organs like petals.
