Regulatory T cells in ischemic stroke

Hong-yun Wang et al.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that regulatory T (Treg) cells play a crucial role in immune regulation after ischemic stroke (IS), but their effects on IS outcomes remain controversial. Further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms by which Treg cells modulate the immune responses induced by IS.

Ferulic acid ameliorates acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury by promoting AMPK-mediated protective autophagy

Jianzhi Wu et al.

Summary: Acetaminophen (APAP) is a widely used antipyretic and analgesic, but overdose can lead to acute liver injury (ALI). Ferulic acid (FA) is a natural polyphenol compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study found that FA has a hepatoprotective effect on APAP-induced ALI, which may be attributed to its antioxidant and anti-apoptosis mechanisms, with AMPK-mediated protective autophagy playing an important role.

The anti-inflammatory effect of Pien Tze Huang in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Baohuan Lian et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Pien Tze Huang (PTH) on NASH mouse models and found that it exerted hepatoprotective effects by improving liver weight, reducing steatosis and fibrosis, and lowering serum levels of ALT and AST. PTH also inhibited the activation of the inflammatory pathway NF-κB, contributing to the improvement of NAFLD.

Pien-Tze-Huang, a Chinese patent formula, attenuates NLRP3 inflammasome-related neuroinflammation by enhancing autophagy via the AMPK/mTOR/ULK1 signaling pathway

Zhenwei Huang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the traditional Chinese medicine Pien-Tze-Huang (PTH) can inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated neuroinflammation through enhancing autophagy and the AMPK/mTOR/ULK1 pathway both in vitro and in vivo, which was validated in experiments with cell cultures and rat models.

Protective effect of Que Zui tea hot-water and aqueous ethanol extract against acetaminophen-induced liver injury in mice via inhibition of oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis

Yongpeng Wang et al.

Summary: The extracts from Que Zui tea have shown significant effectiveness in alleviating acetaminophen-induced liver damage, attributed to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptosis activities.
