Combined Impact of Ultrasound Pre-treatment and Hydrodistillation on Bioactive Compounds and GC-MS Analysis of Cinnamomum cassia Bark Extract

Harshit Jadhav et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of ultrasonic pre-treatment on the extraction of Cinnamomum cassia bark oil by hydrodistillation, showing that ultrasonic pre-treatment enhanced oil yield and produced more oxygenated compounds compared to conventional hydrodistillation. Optimal parameters were determined using a mathematical model, resulting in a more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly extraction method. Experimental confirmation demonstrated that ultrasound pre-treatment reduced extraction time and increased yield.

New approach to the evaluation of lignocellulose derived by-products impact on lytic-polysaccharide monooxygenase activity by using molecular descriptor structural causality model

Tonci Rezic et al.

Summary: The study established a structural causality model to evaluate the impact of phenolic by-products in lignocellulose hydrolysates on LPMO activity, with key molecular descriptors helping to describe inhibition and determine causality through directed acyclic graph and d-separation algorithm. The maximum causality for LPMO activation is beta = 0.79, while the maximum causality for inhibition is beta = -0.56, indicating the potential of the model in predicting LPMO inhibition and guiding the selection of suitable pretreatment methods.
