Out-of-home care placement and mortality rate in early adulthood: identifying vulnerable subgroups in a nationwide cohort study

Summary: This study investigates the association between out-of-home care and mortality, and examines whether the age and number of placements can modify this association. The findings suggest that both the age at first placement and the number of placements do not modify the association between out-of-home care and mortality. Further research is needed to identify potential intervention points to prevent premature mortality in this disadvantaged group.

Child Maltreatment and Mortality in Young Adults

Results showed that individuals who experienced maltreatment had over twice the death rate compared to those who did not, with those placed in out-of-home care having the highest mortality.
