Slow Magnetic Relaxation and Modulated Photoluminescent Emission of Coordination Polymer Based on 3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzoate Zn and Co Metal Ions

Estitxu Echenique-Errandonea et al.

Summary: A new 3D porous framework with the {[CoL]·0.5DMF·H2O}(n) chemical formula (where L = 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoate) is described and its performance as a single molecule magnet is explored. The study reveals that the Co-MOF does not show frequency-dependent alternating current signals under zero direct current magnetic field, but achieves single-molecule magnet behavior when Co-II ions are diluted in a Zn-II based matrix. Interestingly, this strategy also results in a bifunctional [CoxZn1-xL](n) material characterized by strong photoluminescent emitting capacity.

Metal-Organic Framework (MOF)-Derived Catalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) Applications in Fuel Cell Systems: A Review of Current Advancements and Perspectives

Karmegam Dhanabalan et al.

Summary: High-porosity, crystalline, and surface-area-rich metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be utilized in electrochemical energy applications for active catalysis. MOFs have been modified using secondary building blocks, open metal sites with large pore diameters, and functional ligands for enhanced electronic conductivity. They have the potential for excellent performance in fuel cell applications and can improve the fundamental characteristics of mass and electron transportation. Combining MOFs with other materials, such as solitary metal nanoparticles and carbon and nitrogen composites, can enhance their catalytic efficacy, especially in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). This study focuses on MOF derivatives for ORR applications and explores porous carbon MOFs, single metal MOF-derived composites, metal oxides, and metal phosphides. It presents an efficient MOF electrocatalyst platform for ORR applications and discusses its prospects for enhancing fuel cell efficiency and encouraging further research.
