c(RGDfK) anchored surface manipulated liposome for tumor-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) delivery to potentiate liver anticancer activity

Payal Deepak et al.

Summary: Current anticancer drug research focuses on tumor-targeted administration as the best strategy to improve efficacy and reduce toxicity. Nanocarrier-mediated targeted drug delivery systems have emerged as an innovative technique for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatment, overcoming limitations of traditional chemotherapy. In this study, av beta 3 integrin receptor targeted c(RGDfK) surface modified liposomes were developed to enhance the selectivity and therapeutic efficacy of Gefitinib (Gefi) for HCC cells. The modified liposomes showed higher cytotoxicity, better cellular uptake, and improved in vivo biodistribution compared to conventional liposomes and free Gefi. These findings suggest that the c(RGDfK)-surface modified liposomes can serve as an efficient carrier for targeted delivery of anticancer drugs.
