Mechanical Soil Database-Part I: Impact of Bulk Density and Organic Matter on Precompression Stress and Consequences for Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity

Richard Schroeder et al.

Summary: The mechanical strength of agricultural soils is influenced by various soil properties and functions. The soil strength database SOILMECHDAT-Kiel, developed by the Horn Research Group in collaboration with BONARES, includes analyses of soil samples from over 460 profiles. The study found that sandy soils have higher stability, while loamy and silty soils with high organic matter content are less stable. However, further data is needed to fully explain this variation.
