Summary: Two solvent-induced Ni(II) complexes, [Ni-2(L)(mu-OAc)(CH3OH)] (1) and [Ni-2(L)(mu-OAc)(H2O)] (2), were synthesized using a bis(salamo)-like ligand H3L and Ni(OAc)(2)center dot 4H(2)O in methanol and ethanol solvents. The properties of the complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectra, UV-vis spectra, and fluorescence spectra. Complexes 1 and 2 have similar crystal structures but different non-covalent interactions. Complex 1 forms a one-dimensional chain through pi-pi interactions, while complex 2 forms a three-dimensional supramolecular network structure through intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. Furthermore, fluorescence experiments showed significant quenching in 1 and 2 compared to H3L. Intermolecular forces were studied using Hirshfeld surface analysis. DFT calculations revealed high chemical reactivity and low kinetic stability in 1 and 2.

A novel turn-on fluorogenic aldehyde-appended salamo-like copper(II) complex probe for the simultaneous detection of S2O32- and GSH

Yun-Hu Deng et al.

Summary: The ASC probe was designed for dual sensing of S2O32- ions and GSH based on an ICT process, showing good sensitivity in aqueous DMF medium. It also demonstrated the ability to selectively detect S2O32- ions over other sulfur-containing anions. Additionally, the rationality of the fluorescence off-on responses of ASC to S2O32- and GSH was revealed using DFT and TD-DFT computations.
