A New Discrete Implicit Monte Carlo Scheme for Simulating Radiative Transfer Problems

It introduces a discrete implicit Monte Carlo (DIMC) method that avoids teleportation errors and uses particle merging to prevent explosion of the particle population. A new moment-based general-relativistic neutrino-radiation transport code: Methods and first applications to neutron star mergers

Summary: We present a new moment-based energy-integrated neutrino transport code for neutron star merger simulations in general relativity. The code is validated with a stringent series of tests and is the first to include Doppler effects and retain all non-linear neutrino-matter coupling terms. Preliminary simulations show the robustness of the scheme in simulating black hole collapse and long-term neutron star remnants, making it the longest dynamical space-time simulations to date using full neutrino transport.

Summary: Neutrino-matter interactions are crucial for core-collapse supernova (CCSN) explosions, and implicit nonlinear iterative solvers have been designed and compared in this study for energy-coupling neutrino-matter interactions commonly seen in CCSN simulations. The nested Anderson-accelerated fixed-point solver has shown to be more efficient for solving implicit nonlinear systems with such interactions.
