Effect of seawater aging on impact behavior of glass fiber/epoxy laminates with drilled holes

Carlos Rubio-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact behavior of glass fiber/epoxy composite laminates after seawater aging. The results show that the impact properties of wet specimens are significantly lower than dry specimens, with a reduction of approximately 40% in peak force and a 250% increase in damage area.

Influence of graphene nanoplatelet concentration on the electrical, mechanical, and piezoresistive properties of glass fiber/epoxy composites

Julio Alejandro Rodriguez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: The weight concentration of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) significantly affects the electrical, mechanical, thermal-mechanical, and piezoresistive properties of glass fiber/epoxy composite laminates. While the addition of GNPs improves electrical conductivity and strain sensing capabilities, it also decreases interlaminar shear strength and flexural strength. However, the flexural modulus remains relatively unchanged, and a slight increase in glass transition temperature is observed in samples with 1.00 wt% GNPs.

Study of seawater effect on the mechanical and thermomechanical properties of hybrid multiwall carbon nanotube/graphene nanoplatelet-glass fiber/epoxy laminates

Eduardo Jose-Trujillo et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the influence of seawater aging on the flexural and thermomechanical properties of glass fiber/epoxy composites. The results show that seawater aging significantly reduces the mechanical and thermomechanical properties of the composite laminates. However, hybrid MWCNT/GNP-GF/E composites exhibit better resistance to seawater aging, making them suitable for marine applications.

An experimental investigation on the effect of incorporating graphene nanoplatelets on the low-velocity impact behavior of fiber metal laminates

Azadeh Fathi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that incorporating 0.2 wt% of graphene nanoplatelets significantly improves the impact resistance of fiber metal laminates, enhancing adhesion between resin/fibers and composite plies, reducing damage area, and increasing penetration threshold. Additionally, reinforcing composite panels considerably enhances impact behavior compared to unmodified composites.
