Construction of Fe-doped NiS-NiS2 Heterostructured Microspheres Via Etching Prussian Blue Analogues for Efficient Water-Urea Splitting

Shoushuang Huang et al.

Summary: Efficient and robust Fe-doped NiS-NiS2 heterostructured microspheres were successfully synthesized for electrocatalytic water-urea splitting. The microspheres, constructed by mesoporous nanoplates, provide large surface areas, high structural void porosity, and accessible inner surface, enabling more redox reaction centers, improved structural robustness, and facilitated mass diffusion and charge transport. Density functional theory simulations show that Fe-doping enhances the conductivity of nickel sulfides, while the NiS-NiS2 heterojunctions optimize the adsorption free energy of intermediates, resulting in a low overpotential and high electrocatalytic activity.
