Modification of carbon nitride with noble-metal-free cobalt phosphide for effective photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Shaoqin Peng et al.

Summary: In this study, CoP/g-C3N4 composite photocatalysts were prepared and used for efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution reaction (HER) under visible light irradiation. The CoP(5 wt%)/g-C3N4 composite showed better HER performance compared to Pt(5 wt%)/g-C3N4, achieving a high apparent quantum yield (AQY) of 56.3% under 420 nm light. The high activity and stability of CoP(5 wt%)/g-C3N4 were attributed to efficient electron transfer and the excellent HER activity of CoP.

Tuning metal-support interaction of NiCu/graphene cocatalysts for enhanced dye-sensitized photocatalytic H2 evolution

Weiying Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the modulation of metal-support interaction (MSI) in graphene-supported Ni catalyst was successfully achieved through an alloying strategy. A reasonable Ni/Cu ratio significantly enhanced the MSI in the NiCu cocatalyst, leading to the presence of smaller NiCu alloy nanoparticles with sufficient active sites and optimized hydrogen adsorption on the NiCu surface. As a result, the NiCu cocatalyst exhibited improved electrocatalytic and photocatalytic HER performance compared to monometallic Ni and Cu catalysts.

Seeded Growth Combined with Cation Exchange for the Synthesis of Anisotropic Cu2-xS/ZnS, Cu2-xS, and CuInS2 Nanorods

Chenghui Xia et al.

Summary: Colloidal copper(I) sulfide nanocrystals have unique optoelectronic properties, making them potential seeds for the synthesis of heteronanocrystals. By using a multistep synthesis strategy, Cu2-xS/ZnS Janus-type heteronanorods were successfully obtained with sharp heterointerfaces. This work demonstrates the rational synthesis of multicomponent heteronanorods by combining postsynthetic heteroepitaxial seeded growth and nanoscale cation exchange.

Transformations of Ionic Nanocrystals via Full and Partial Ion Exchange Reactions

Masaki Saruyama et al.

Summary: Elaborate chemical synthesis methods allow the production of inorganic nanocrystals with uniform shape and size distributions. Ion exchange reactions for ionic nanocrystals have been extensively studied due to the large surface-to-volume ratio of the nanoparticles. The cation exchange reactions proceed much faster than anion exchange reactions due to the larger ionic radii of anions within the frameworks of nanocrystals.

Xinyu Dang et al.

Summary: ZnIn2S4/CdIn2S4 nano-composites obtained through in situ modification demonstrate excellent photocatalytic activity for hydrogen generation under visible light. The enhanced performance can be attributed to the large number of Cd-S-Zn atomic bridges between ZnIn2S4 nanosheets and CdIn2S4 nano-octahedrons, which promote interfacial charge transfer and inhibit carrier recombination.
