Summary: Severe viral pneumonia, especially COVID-19, has significant impact on morbidity and mortality rates, with differences in patient demographics and illness severity between patients with COVID-19 and other viral pneumonias. Despite variations in characteristics and treatments, mortality rates did not significantly differ between the two groups, warranting further studies with larger sample sizes for better assessment.
