Anxiety, Depression and Quality of Life-A Systematic Review of Evidence from Longitudinal Observational Studies

Johanna Katharina Hohls et al.

Summary: This review systematically investigated the longitudinal association between anxiety, depression, and quality of life (QoL) and found that QoL was reduced before disorder onset, dropped further during the disorder, and improved with remission. Results of the meta-analysis showed that QoL at follow-up differed by disorder status at baseline and by disorder course over time, with larger effect sizes for MCS relative to PCS. These findings underline the importance of preventive measures and treatment in mental health care.
