Everyday Adaptation: Theorizing climate change adaptation in daily life

While current adaptation practice focuses on institutional action, we argue for a broader definition that includes small, incremental changes in daily life to accommodate shifting ecologies. We propose the concept of everyday adaptation, which refers to the ways individuals work, eat, live, and think in response to climate realities. Understanding the logic and effects of everyday adaptation is crucial for better aligning individual actions with large-scale adaptation projects and protecting the livelihood and quality of life in climate change affected areas.
