Design, fabrication and performance assessment of a novel portable solar-based poly-generation system

Milad Soltani et al.

Summary: In this study, a new portable solar-based poly-generation system is proposed and experimentally investigated. The system consists of photovoltaic panels, evacuated solar collector, vapor compression refrigeration, and desalination section. The total power consumption of the cooling, heating, HDH desalination, and RO desalination cycles are measured to be 330 W, 70 W, 36 W, and 36 W, respectively. The photovoltaic panels can provide 471 W of electricity, with the compressor utilizing the majority of the generated power. The system can supply 16.5 L of distilled water per hour. Excess electricity and heat are stored during the day to ensure continuous operation of the system. The facility incorporates unique electronic boards and multiple sensors to evaluate the performance of different subsystems. Wireless sensor data acquisition and control monitoring are used based on the energy demand.

Energy, exergy, environmental and economic analysis of the parabolic solar collector with life cycle assessment for different climate conditions

Seyed Farhan Moosavian et al.

Summary: This study focused on the impact of climate change on solar energy systems, investigating the performance of a parabolic solar collector under different climatic conditions through a numerical model. The results showed that Shiraz had the highest thermal energy efficiency, Sanandaj had the highest exergy efficiency, and Rasht had the lowest environmental cost in terms of CO2 production.

Experimental study of a parabolic trough solar collector with rotating absorber tube

Amir Mohammad Norouzi et al.

Summary: The study shows that in parabolic trough solar collectors, selecting the appropriate rotational speed of the absorber tube can significantly reduce temperature differences and maximum surface temperature, while increasing efficiency by approximately 17%. The Ta/Re ratio and CEP play crucial roles in predicting the optimal efficiency.
