Design of a Cooperative Sustainable Three-Echelon Supply Chain under Uncertainty in CO2 Allowance

Florencia Lujan Garcia-Castro et al.

Summary: Driven by concerns of greenhouse gas emissions, this study provides a robust stochastic model for designing a cooperative supply chain under uncertainty in CO2 allowance prices from EU ETS. By predicting future allowance prices, the study shows increased benefits and reduced emissions compared to a deterministic approach.

Robust optimization of sustainable food supply chain network considering food waste valorization and supply uncertainty

Ramesh Krishnan et al.

Summary: This study presents an integrated robust multi-objective optimization model for designing a sustainable food supply chain (FSC). The model considers economic, social, and environmental sustainability dimensions, as well as perishability, food waste valorization, and supply uncertainty. Applied to a real-time case of the Indian mango pulp supply chain, the model provides insights for transforming the FSC towards sustainability.

Measuring Blood Supply Chain Performance Using Monte-Carlo Simulation

Nirmeen Elsayed et al.

Summary: A Monte-Carlo simulation approach is used to model the blood supply chain and analyze its performance under different supply strategies. The validation using real case study data increases the practical application of the proposed model. The results show that a slight increase in collected blood units leads to noticeable improvement in availability percentage with an acceptable increase in total cost.

A hybrid modeling approach for green and sustainable closed-loop supply chain considering price, advertisement and uncertain demands

Behrooz Khorshidvand et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a new hybrid method that simultaneously involves SCC decisions and CLSCND objectives, aiming to maximize profit and minimize CO2 emission through price, greenness, and advertisement decisions. The applicability of the approach is validated through several examples, showing an improvement in economic and environmental objectives under greening and advertising decisions.
