Analysis of degradation products of Novichok agents in human urine by hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

Mai Otsuka et al.

Summary: In this study, a HILIC-MS/MS method was developed to detect Novichok agent degradation products in human urine. With a simple pretreatment method, the six degradation products of Novichok agents were successfully separated and detected with high sensitivity.

Analysis of degradation products of nerve agents in biological fluids by ion chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

Mai Otsuka et al.

Summary: This study developed an ion chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (IC-MS/MS) method using commercially available equipment and columns to analyze highly hydrophilic RMPAs in human urine and serum with high sensitivity. Two pretreatment methods were developed for biological fluids and the detection limits of RMPAs were improved. These methods were also applied to the test samples for the organisation's proficiency tests.

Dimethoxytriadinylation LC-MS/MS of Novichok A-Series Degradation Products in Human Urine

Akinori Yamaguchi et al.

Summary: This study developed a screening method using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to detect and identify Novichok A-series degradation products and alkyl methylphosphonic acids in urine samples. The method utilized a suitable derivatization reagent and achieved the detection and stability of the target compounds. The newly developed method was successfully applied to analyze urine samples from a proficiency test.

Theoretical evaluation of the hydrolysis of conventional nerve agents and novichok agents

Mai Otsuka et al.

Summary: Novichok agents, a new class of nerve agents, have been involved in recent cases and are extremely toxic. The study demonstrates the possibility of theoretical calculations for safely researching highly toxic substances, showing that novichok agents behave more like VX than sarin in hydrolysis reactions.
