Effect of Protonation and Deprotonation on Electron Transfer Mediated Decay and Interatomic Coulombic Decay

R. Kumar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of protonation and deprotonation on the properties of temporary bound states in non-radiative decay processes. The study finds that protonation and deprotonation can alter the ionization potential and double ionization potential of the system, as well as affect the rate and efficiency of decay.

Experimental quantification of site-specific efficiency of Interatomic Coulombic Decay after inner shell ionization

Catmarna Kuestner-Wetekam et al.

Summary: In this study, a method was proposed to determine the site-specific efficiency of the Interatomic Coulombic Decay (ICD) process experimentally, which showed quantitative agreement with theoretical calculations. ICD and related interatomic and intermolecular autoionization mechanisms are common decay processes of excited atoms and molecules in the environment. It is generally accepted that the efficiency of ICD of an ionized atom in a cluster increases with an increasing number of nearest neighbors. In this study, we experimentally validated this assumption by quantitatively comparing ICD and its main competitor, Auger decay, in core-level ionized Kr clusters. Our results are in quantitative agreement with scaled theoretical calculations on Kr-2.

Decay Processes in Cationic Alkali Metals in Microsolvated Clusters: A Complex Absorbing Potential Based Equation-of-Motion Coupled Cluster Investigation

Ravi Kumar et al.

Summary: The intermolecular decay processes in microsolvated systems of ionized metals (Li+, Na+, K+) with water molecules have been studied using the CAP-IP-EOM-CCSD method. The decay processes differ for different metal atoms, and the presence of water molecules and the environment (such as solvents) play a significant role in these processes.

Impact of cavity on interatomic Coulombic decay

Lorenz S. Cederbaum et al.

Summary: Interatomic Coulombic decay (ICD) is an efficient electronic decay process that occurs in systems embedded in environments. Quantum light has a significant impact on the ICD process, altering it compared to classical ICD, and allowing for control of ICD rates through manipulation of atomic distribution and orientation. In an electromagnetic cavity, the entanglement of atoms can substantially change ICD rates and be utilized to control the process.
