LAMMPS-a flexible simulation tool for particle-based materials modeling at the atomic, meso, and continuum scales

Aidan P. Thompson et al.

Summary: LAMMPS, a classical molecular dynamics simulator released as an open source code in 2004, has gained popularity for its wide variety of particle interaction models, platform compatibility, and user control over simulation details. With contributions from numerous developers, it has grown from 50,000 lines of code to a million today, showcasing new capabilities like dynamic load balancing and quantum-accuracy machine learning interatomic potentials.

Slip length measurement in rectangular graphene nanochannels with a 3D flow analysis

Kuan-Ting Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a 3D capillary flow model was developed to accurately measure slip length in graphene nanochannels. Experimental measurements and reevaluation of existing data revealed smaller slip lengths than previously reported. This research provides a comprehensive understanding of slip flow in graphene nanochannels.

On the equivalence of nonequilibrium and equilibrium measurements of slip in molecular dynamics simulations

N. G. Hadjiconstantinou et al.

Summary: We demonstrate the consistency between nonequilibrium and equilibrium measurements of slip by properly considering the hydrodynamic wall location associated with equilibrium measurement. The neglect of this location, which is strongly influenced by fluid state and wall-fluid interaction, has been addressed in our alternative approach. Extensive molecular dynamics simulations are conducted to validate our method, which includes a slip length calculation model without using a Green-Kubo integral.

Improved methodology to compute the intrinsic friction coefficient at solid-liquid interfaces

Sleeba Varghese et al.

Summary: This study introduces an improved methodology to calculate the intrinsic friction coefficient at the liquid-solid interface, using equilibrium molecular dynamics with smaller statistical errors. The method is validated by measuring the friction coefficient at different interfaces and against direct non-equilibrium molecular dynamics measurements, showing higher reliability compared to existing methods.

Theoretical framework for the atomistic modeling of frequency-dependent liquid-solid friction

Haruki Oga et al.

Summary: By establishing an analytical framework connecting the Navier friction coefficient with random force autocorrelation, the performance control issue of nanofluidic devices has been addressed. This generic framework also tackles problems related to frequency dependence and system size dependence of the FC.
