NOx Emissions below the Prospective EURO VII Limit on a Retrofitted Heavy-Duty Vehicle

Joan Ximinis et al.

Summary: In this study, a EURO VI heavy-duty vehicle was retrofitted with an exhaust gas heater (EGH) to reduce NOx emissions. The results showed that a 5 kW EGH effectively reduced NOx emissions below the EURO VI and EURO VII limits and improved the catalytic conversion efficiency of the after-treatment system. The use of EGH allowed earlier urea injection and reduced NOx emissions, but slightly increased fuel consumption. Additionally, the feasibility of using an automotive thermoelectric generator (ATEG) to power the EGH was demonstrated.

Reduction of NOx by H2 on WOx-Promoted Pt/Al2O3/SiO2 Catalysts Under O2-Rich Conditions

Enno Esser et al.

Summary: This study investigates NOX reduction by H-2 under O-2-rich conditions using Al2O3/SiO2-supported Pt catalysts with different loads of WOx promotor. The results show that smaller Pt particles are more efficient, while the introduction of WOx increases deNOX activity and N-2 selectivity. The promoting effect is attributed to an additional reaction path at the Pt-Wo(x)/Al2O3/SiO2 interface.

Summary: The study found that a catalyst can maintain high NOx conversion rate and selectivity even in the presence of water, and showed good activity and stability in long-term experiments. Additionally, it was found that there is competition between overall reaction and hydrogen combustion reaction.
