Titania-Morphology-Dependent Pt-TiO2 Interfacial Catalysis in Water-Gas Shift Reaction

Yunshang Zhang et al.

Summary: The morphology of the TiO2 support strongly influences the interfacial catalysis of Pt-TiO2 for the water-gas shift (WGS) reaction. Pt/TiO2{001} catalyst exhibits fewer surface oxygen vacancies and consequently active Pt-Ov,TiO2 interfacial ensemble sites compared to Pt/TiO2{100} and Pt/TiO2{101} catalysts, resulting in lower catalytic activity.

Highly efficient doping of titanium dioxide with sulfur using disulfide-linked macrocycles for hydrogen production under visible light

Meng Zhou et al.

Summary: Doping sulfur into TiO2 can improve its photocatalytic efficiency and extend its absorption range from ultraviolet to visible light. Disulfide macrocycles are efficient dopants for modifying TiO2 with sulfur, reducing the amount of dopants needed and increasing the utilization rate of sulfur.

Photo-assisted sequential assembling of uniform metal nanoclusters on semiconductor support

Haocheng Wu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a sequential photochemical deposition stray j named first store, and then release, to uniformly fabricate size-controlling noble metal nanoclusters on semiconductor oxides. By storing the photoexcited electrons as reduced species and optimizing the nucleation and growth processes in dark reaction, the nanoclusters of various noble metals can be uniformly dispersed. These nanocluster catalysts exhibit superior performance in catalytic oxidation reactions.

Synergy of surface sodium and hydroxyl on NaTi2HO5 nanotubes accelerating the Pt-dominated ambient HCHO oxidation

Fang Liu et al.

Summary: The (001) facet of NaTi2HO5 was found to be more favorable for HCHO adsorption, and nanotubes of NaTi2HO5 can partially oxidize HCHO into formate while releasing very few CO, which enhances the speed of complete oxidation. The synergy between surface hydroxyl and Na atom plays a crucial role in the chemisorption of HCHO, suggesting a new advantage for HCHO oxidation.

A Nonoxide Catalyst System Study: Alkali Metal-Promoted Pt/AC Catalyst for Formaldehyde Oxidation at Ambient Temperature

Chunying Wang et al.

Summary: Metal oxides are commonly used as supports in noble metal-based catalysts for formaldehyde oxidation, but this study demonstrates the successful application of activated carbon, a nonoxide support, for Pt catalysts in HCHO oxidation. The addition of alkali metal Na enhances the stability of Pt species, increases Pt dispersion, and improves the activation of chemisorbed oxygen and water, leading to direct conversion of HCHO to CO2 and H2O on the Na-Pt/AC-R catalyst. This research extends the promotional effect of alkali metals on supported Pt catalysts to a nonoxide carrier system.
