Differentiation Between Heterogeneous GGN and Part-Solid Nodule Using 2 D Grayscale Histogram Analysis of Thin-Section CT Image

Hirofumi Koike et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the differences between heterogeneous ground-glass nodules (HGGNs) and part-solid nodules (PSNs) in lung cancer using grayscale histogram analysis. The results showed that histogram parameters were effective in differentiating between HGGNs and PSNs, as well as differentiating between different pathological types. Grayscale histogram analysis can be a useful tool in estimating the pathology of these lesions.

Summary: This study explored the value of AI quantitative parameters and CT signs in identifying pathological subtypes of lung adenocarcinoma with GGNs. Results showed that AI parameters in combination with CT signs improved diagnostic efficacy for early lung adenocarcinoma subtypes, with a mixed predictive model achieving better performance compared to quantitative parameters alone.

Predicting lung adenocarcinoma invasiveness by measurement of pure ground-glass nodule roundness by using multiplanar reformation: a retrospective analysis

Q. Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the value of roundness measurement based on thin-section axial, coronal, and sagittal section CT images for predicting pGGN invasiveness. The results showed that roundness measurements from coronal and sagittal sections were better predictors of pGGN invasiveness than those from axial sections, with sagittal section images having the highest predictive value.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Long-Term Prognosis of Patients With Resected Adenocarcinoma In Situ and Minimally Invasive Adenocarcinoma of the Lung

Masaya Yotsukura et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the prognosis of patients with adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) or minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) after more than 5 postoperative years. No recurrence of lung cancer was observed in this time frame, and the 10-year survival rates were 100% for both AIS and MIA cases. The low risk of recurrence at more than 5 years after resection highlights the clinical value of distinguishing AIS and MIA from other lung adenocarcinomas.
