BioRED: a rich biomedical relation extraction dataset

Ling Luo et al.

Summary: Automated relation extraction from biomedical literature is critical, with existing benchmarks limiting development. A new dataset, BioRED, enables extraction of relations with multiple entity types and pairs at the document level. Results show room for improvement in the RE task, especially when extracting novel relations, and highlight the dataset's utility in facilitating the development of more accurate, efficient RE systems for biomedicine.
