Memristive control of mutual spin Hall nano-oscillator synchronization for neuromorphic computing

Mohammad Zahedinejad et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that memristive gating of W/CoFeB/MgO/AlOx-based SHNOs can effectively address the challenges of interfacing, tuning, and storing the state of large arrays of SHNOs. The memristor in its high resistance state modulates the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, while in its low resistance state it adds or subtracts current to the SHNO drive, allowing for reversible turning on/off of mutual synchronization in chains of SHNOs. This approach enables non-volatile tuning of mutual synchronization in chains of up to four oscillators and provides a path toward individual control in large oscillatory arrays.

Domain wall memory: Physics, materials, and devices

Durgesh Kumar et al.

Summary: Digital data generated by corporate and individual users is growing due to the use of digital applications. While flash memory devices are replacing HDDs in certain applications, HDDs still dominate the storage of digital data in cloud and servers. Domain wall memory (DWM) is a potential alternative to HDDs, offering lower power consumption and higher storage capacity. However, there are challenges to be addressed before DWM can become commercially viable.

Elongated skyrmion as spin torque nano-oscillator and magnonic waveguide

Xue Liang et al.

Summary: This work presents a skyrmion-based spin torque nano-oscillator driven by a spatially uniform direct current. Micromagnetic simulations demonstrate the influence of driving current, damping constant, magnetic parameters, and pinning sites on the oscillation frequency. The elongated skyrmion can also function as a magnonic waveguide.

Boundary-free spin torque nano-oscillators based on ferrimagnetic skyrmions

Laichuan Shen et al.

Summary: In this work, a spin torque nano-oscillator based on ferrimagnetic skyrmions is proposed, where the current-induced force can be balanced by the controllable Magnus force due to the ferrimagnetic nature. The oscillation frequency relies on the magnetization and can exceed 1.5 GHz around the angular momentum compensation point. This ferrimagnetic nano-oscillator does not require a shaped magnetic working layer, suggesting potential for building oscillator arrays and studying interaction between them.
