Advances in Magnetics Roadmap on Spin-Wave Computing

A. V. Chumak et al.

Summary: Magnonics is a discipline that explores the physical properties of spin waves and utilizes them for data processing. It offers several advantages, such as scalability to atomic dimensions, operation in high-frequency ranges, utilization of nonlinear and nonreciprocal phenomena, and compatibility with CMOS technology. Although primarily in the academic domain, extensive research is being conducted to address the scientific and technological challenges, with several proof-of-concept prototypes already realized in laboratories.

Cubic to hexagonal tuning in Fe2Mn(Si1-xGex) Heusler alloys

B. Pimentel et al.

Summary: The competition between stability of cubic and hexagonal full Heusler alloys was studied by analyzing the Fe2Mn(Si1-xGex) system. The hexagonal phases were found to form for x >= 0.6, increasing monotonically with x until pure hexagonal Fe2MnGe. Both cubic and hexagonal magnetic features were qualitatively reproduced by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, providing a foundation for further design of Heusler systems with controlled structures and magnetic properties.

Dynamic magnetic properties of Co2FeAl/IrMn bilayers

S. A. Raza et al.

Summary: We investigated the static and dynamic magnetic properties of exchange-biased Co2FeAl/IrMn films systematically. The study reveals that the exchange bias and rotatable anisotropy increase with the thickness of the IrMn layer. Surprisingly, the rotatable anisotropy does not decrease as observed in other systems. The magnetic damping parameter α ranges between 5.47 x 10(-3) and 8.89 x 10(-3) for the CoFeAl/IrMn systems, without a clear correlation with the IrMn thickness or rotatable anisotropy.

Functionalized Co2FeAl Nanoparticles for Detection of SARS CoV-2 Based on Reverse Transcriptase Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification

Ujjwal Ranjan Dahiya et al.

Summary: A novel detection method combining a nano-capture system with a modified reverse transcriptase-LAMP assay was introduced for accurate detection of the SARS CoV-2 virus. By utilizing the nano-capture system, false positives were effectively eliminated, making this method more efficient compared to other approaches.

The 2021 Magnonics Roadmap

Anjan Barman et al.

Summary: Magnonics is a burgeoning research field that focuses on utilizing spin waves to transmit, store, and process information, showing significant progress in the past decade. The key challenges include excitation of sub-100 nm wavelength magnons, manipulation on the nanoscale, and creation of sub-micrometre devices using low-Gilbert damping magnetic materials. Magnonics offers advantages such as lower energy consumption, easier integrability, compatibility with CMOS structure, reprogrammability, shorter wavelength, smaller device features, anisotropic properties, negative group velocity, non-reciprocity, and efficient tunability by various external stimuli.

Control of Structural and Magnetic Properties of Polycrystalline Co2FeGe Films via Deposition and Annealing Temperatures

Andrii Vovk et al.

Summary: Thin polycrystalline Co2FeGe films with close to stoichiometric composition were fabricated using magnetron co-sputtering. The effects of substrate temperature and post-deposition annealing on the structure and magnetic properties were systematically studied, showing that elevated temperatures promote the formation of an ordered crystal structure. By controlling the temperatures, modifications in the magnetic properties can be achieved, with desirable properties for spin-transfer torque and magnonic devices demonstrated at a substrate temperature of 573 K.
