Study of thermal properties and microstructure of the Ag-Ge alloys

Dragan Manasijevic et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the microstructure, phase transitions, thermal diffusivity, and thermal conductivity of four Ag-Ge alloys with different Ge compositions. The results showed that both thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity reached a minimum at 20% Ge, close to the eutectic composition. The experimental results were in close agreement with thermodynamic calculations and literature data.

Summary: This study investigates the practical application of thermoelectric self-cooling technology in commercial projectors through experimental and numerical research. The experimental results show that a carefully designed thermoelectric self-cooling system can outperform traditional forced cooling systems without consuming power. A numerical model is established and validated through the comparison with experimental results. A parametric study analyzes the influence of different physical properties and structures of thermoelectric materials.

Specific heat of ternary Ag-Si-Ge alloys from 123 K to high temperatures: experiment and prediction

Q. Wang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on determining the specific heat of Ag-Si-Ge alloys in a broad temperature range, with a particular interest in ternary alloys. It was found that specific heat increases linearly with rising Ag and Ge content in Si-rich alloys at low temperatures, while alloys around the Si-Ag(75)Ge(25) pseudobinary line in the Ag-rich area exhibit much lower specific heat at high temperatures. Interpolation using data of pure elements, hypo-/hypereutectic alloys, and the eutectic points provided the highest accuracy in predicting specific heat values, especially at high temperatures, and this approach may be applicable to other eutectic systems.

Specific heat, thermal diffusivity, and thermal conductivity of Ag-Si alloys within a wide temperature range of 293-823 K

H. M. Chen et al.

Summary: The heat transfer behaviors of Ag-Si alloys over a wide temperature range were investigated using the laser flash method, revealing a decrease in thermal conductivity with increasing Si content. The abnormal thermal conductivity at eutectic composition may be attributed to the large amount of phase boundaries in the microstructures of Ag-Si alloys.
