Magnetization reversal mechanism for core-shell grains in GBD Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets based on in-situ domain observation

Yuqing Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents an in-situ observation of the magnetic domain structure and its dynamic evolution of core-shell structure grains in the grain-boundary diffused Nd-Fe-B magnet. It is found that the shell regions have wider domains due to higher anisotropy constant and lower saturation magnetization. The study reveals that the demagnetization process of core-shell structure exhibits a multi-step nucleation process.

Diffusion behavior and coercivity enhancement of Tb-containing NdFeB magnet by dip-coating TbH3

Toujun Zhou et al.

Summary: There is a growing demand for high coercivity of NdFeB magnets with low heavy rare earth in emerging applications. In this study, dip-coating of 0.02 g and 0.09 g TbH3 on Tb-containing NdFeB magnets was found to enhance coercivity at room temperature. After diffusion, the highest coercivity reached about 30 kOe, suitable for traction motors of electric vehicles.

Microstructural insights into the coercivity enhancement of grain-boundary-diffusion-processed Tb-treated Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets beyond the core-shell formation mechanism

Kristina Zagar Soderznik et al.

Summary: This study proposed a dominant core-shell formation mechanism for Nd2Fe14B sintered magnets processed with grain-boundary diffusion and Tb treatment, demonstrating a 30% increase in coercivity with GBDP mechanism. The results revealed that Tb diffuses along grain boundaries to form a core-shell structure, leading to enhanced magnetic properties. The measured increase in coercivity was attributed to a structural effect caused by the presence of Tb rather than its magnetic contribution, paving the way for grain-boundary engineering studies to enhance the coercivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets for e-mobility and eco-power applications.

Understanding Complex Magnetic Spin Textures with Simulation-Assisted Lorentz Transmission Electron Microscopy

Arthur R. C. McCray et al.

Summary: This study introduces the application of the PyLorentz open-source software suite for quantitative image analysis of Neel-type skyrmions in thin-film heterostructures. By enabling reconstruction of magnetic induction maps from experimental images and simulating LTEM images using micromagnetic simulation data, PyLorentz enhances the capabilities of Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. Simulation-assisted LTEM analysis is shown to be crucial for understanding complex magnetic spin textures.
