Facile solvothermal synthesis of Cu2ZnSn1-xGexS4 nanocrystals: Effect of Ge content on optical and electrical properties

D. Mora-Herrera et al.

Summary: This paper reports the successful synthesis of Cu2ZnSn1-xGexS4 (CZTGS) nanocrystals using a cost-effective solvothermal method, and investigates the effect of Ge on their structural, morphological, optical, and electrical properties. The results show that increasing Ge content leads to a transition in crystal structure from CZTS to CZGS, and an increase in band gap of resulting CZTGS nanocrystals.

Crystal growth, electronic and optical properties of Tl2CdSnSe4, a recently discovered prospective semiconductor for application in thin film solar cells and optoelectronics

Tuan V. Vu et al.

Summary: The electronic and optical properties of a single crystal of the non-centrosymmetric low-temperature modification of Tl2CdSnSe4 were studied experimentally and theoretically. The crystal growth method and its bandgap energy were determined. Theoretical calculations using density functional theory showed promise for applications in thin film solar cells and optoelectronics.

Quaternary Tl2CdGeSe4 selenide: Electronic structure and optical properties of a novel semiconductor for potential application in optoelectronics

Tuan V Vu et al.

Summary: Experimental results show that Tl2CdGeSe4 is a p-type conductor with a band gap energy of 1.52 eV and a non-direct material, confirmed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The DFT calculations reveal that the Se 4p states primarily contribute to the top of the valence band of Tl2CdGeSe4, while the crystal surface is found to be relatively stable when treated with middle-energy Ar+ ions and exhibits low hygroscopicity.

Entropy-Induced Multivalley Band Structures Improve Thermoelectric Performance in p-Cu7P(SxSe1-x)6 Argyrodites

Oleksandr Cherniushok et al.

Summary: The study presents the potential of novel argyrodite-based Cu7P(SxSe1-x) (6) materials for energy conversion, showcasing significant enhancement in thermoelectric properties through alloying and manipulation of configurational entropy. The combination of extremely low lattice thermal conductivity and enhanced power factor leads to a remarkable improvement in the thermoelectric figure of merit ZT, making sulfide argyrodites promising candidates for sustainable and environmentally friendly energy conversion.
