Effects of process parameters on interfacial characterization and mechanical properties of 316L/CuCrZr functionally graded material by selective laser melting

Shenglan Mao et al.

Summary: Steel-Copper functionally graded material (FGM) fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) has been studied for its interfacial characteristics, microscopic features, tensile properties, and microhardness, with a processing map developed for CuCrZr tracks on SLM processed 316L substrate. The study found that specific process parameters are suitable for the formation of 316L/CuCrZr FGM, with improvements in ultimate tensile strengths and microhardness in different regions of the material. These findings offer valuable guidance for the fabrication of Steel-Copper FGM by SLM.

Zhangping Hu et al.

Summary: The evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu-Cr-Zr fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) with different scanning parameters was investigated. Cu-Cr-Zr specimens with high density and superior mechanical properties were obtained by optimizing the scanning parameters. The anisotropic trend of crystallographic texture and grain microstructure was observed in different planes, and the formation of twins and nano precipitates contributed to the excellent mechanical properties of the specimens.

Summary: This study investigated laser-arc hybrid additive manufacturing (LAHAM) of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy and compared it with wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). LAHAM samples showed refined grain size, reduced texture index and pole density intensity compared to WAAM samples. The LAHAM copper alloy exhibited improved tensile properties, with increased ultimate strength and elongation.

Selective laser melting of CuCrZr alloy: processing optimisation, microstructure and mechanical properties

Zezhou Kuai et al.

Summary: The process parameters characteristics of CuCrZr alloy processed by selective laser melting (SLM) were systematically investigated. The laser power and scanning speed were found to have an effect on the surface morphology of the samples, while the scanning strategy influenced the densification level. By optimizing the process parameters, almost fully dense CuCrZr samples with stable melt tracks and no obvious porosity were obtained. The grain morphology and orientation were highly correlated with the laser trajectory and construction direction. XRD analysis showed the presence of diffraction peaks of α-Cu and no peaks of other phase components.

Zr-containing precipitate evolution and its effect on the mechanical properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloys

Yibo Du et al.

Summary: The Zr-containing precipitates in the Cu alloy first form coherent Zr-rich atomic clusters on the {111} crystal plane of copper during aging, which then transform into Cu5Zr phase as aging time increases. The contribution of Zr-rich atomic clusters and Cu5Zr precipitates to the yield strength of the alloy is calculated by coherency strengthening and Orowan strengthening, respectively. The total yield strength is very close to the experimentally measured strength.
