Single and Co-Doping of ZnO Nanowires with Al and Cl Using One Precursor by Chemical Bath Deposition

Adrien Baillard et al.

Summary: The simultaneous cationic and anionic co-doping of ZnO nanowires with Al and Cl using one single chemical additive offers a promising way to optimize their physical properties and facilitate their integration into engineering devices. In this study, we investigate the effect of single doping with Al and Cl and extend the approach to their simultaneous co-doping. The co-doping process reveals significant interplay effects between Al(III) and Cl(I) species through competitive adsorption and incorporation processes.

Morphology and orientation controlling of ZnO nanofibers via chemical bath deposition

Jinze Zhu et al.

Summary: Growth of high-quality ZnO nanomaterials along specific orientations is still a hot topic. In this study, ZnO nanofibers with various orientations were demonstrated. Electrospinning ZnO fibers acted as seed templates for fabricating ZnO crystals with different orientations, depending on the increased volume ratio of isopropanol (IPA) in the chemical bath deposition (CBD) solutions. The characterization of ZnO nanofibers showed that ZnO crystals experience a growth transition from polar to nonpolar orientation, due to the enhanced steric hindrance caused by the increased IPA volume fraction in CBD solutions. An effective synthesized approach was applied in this work to grow ZnO nanostructures with specific crystal orientations.

Structural analysis of the ZnO/MgO superlattices on a-polar ZnO substrates grown by MBE

M. Stachowicz et al.

Summary: This study analyzed heteroepitaxially grown ZnO/MgO superlattices on a-oriented ZnO substrates. It found that the different crystalline structures of ZnO and MgO influence the abruptness of the interface and the retention of the wurtzite structure. The wurtzite structure can be retained in the MgO thin barriers, but it inevitably leads to non-uniform biaxial strains and interdiffusion of Mg from barriers to ZnO QW's. The complex strain/composition heterogeneities can be explained by the difference in vapor pressure between Mg and Zn elements and the high mobility of Mg atoms. A ZnMgO film of three monolayers size was created at the interfaces, which partly contributes to retaining the wurtzite structure of the coherently grown MgO layers.

Chemical Bath Deposition of ZnO Nanowires Using Copper Nitrate as an Additive for Compensating Doping

Clement Lausecker et al.

Summary: The controlled incorporation of copper into ZnO nanowires using chemical bath deposition is explored, highlighting the formation mechanisms and competitive adsorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions on the top facets of the ZnO nanowires. The study provides insights into the physicochemical processes and speciation of Cu and Zn ions during the CBD process, revealing the significance of both thermodynamic simulations and chemical analyses in understanding the incorporation of dopants.
