Edge terminated and interlayer expanded pristine MoS2 nanostructures with 1T on 2H phase, for enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction

Swathy B. Saseendran et al.

Summary: In this study, pristine molybdenum disulfide nanostructures with 1T and 2H phases were prepared by tuning the growth time in hydrothermal synthesis. The optimized sample exhibited impressive kinetic performance, showing the best onset potential, Tafel slope, and exchange current density among all reported pristine MoS2-based catalysts. The modification of the electronic structure to enhance conductivity can potentially lead to the design of high-performance catalysts.

Tuning of structural and optical properties with enhanced catalytic activity in chemically synthesized Co-doped MoS2 nanosheets

Rosy Rahman et al.

Summary: In this study, few-layered cobalt (Co) doped MoS2 nanosheets with different cobalt content were synthesized through the solvothermal approach. The 6% Co doped MoS2 nanosheets exhibited superior catalytic activity with a high rate constant for the reduction of p-nitrophenol. The study demonstrates that proper tuning of cobalt doping in MoS2 nanosheets could potentially provide an alternative to noble metal catalysts for the catalytic reduction of nitroarenes.
