Summary: ZnFe2O4@Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) composites were prepared using Sol-Gel self-propagating combustion method and in situ growth method. The honeycomb-like structured ZnFe2O4@C composites obtained through carbonization at 800°C in Ar atmosphere exhibited enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The carbon content of the composites could be adjusted by the ZIF-8 coating. The composites with 5% and 10% ZIF-8 (wt%) showed excellent reflection loss values and wide effective absorption bandwidth in the frequency range of 7.6-11.3 GHz.

Summary: Fe2O3-coated FeSiCr nanoparticles were prepared using plasma arc discharge and oxidation heat treatment, with improved crystallinity through vacuum heat treatment. Fe2O3 shell thickness increased with oxidation temperature. The complex permittivity and permeability initially increased and then decreased. At an oxidation temperature of 125°C, FeSiCr@Fe2O3 nanoparticles exhibited a minimum reflection loss of -23.7 dB at 11.2 GHz. Increasing the vacuum heat treatment temperature further improved the crystallinity of the Fe2O3 shell, leading to increased real and imaginary values of the complex permittivity and unchanged permeability. At a vacuum heat treatment temperature of 150°C, FeSiCr@Fe2O3 nanoparticles achieved a minimum reflection loss of -49.9 dB at 15.9 GHz, with an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.9 GHz within 1-18 GHz (RL <= -10 dB). The improved microwave performance is attributed to the interface polarization and synergistic effect between FeSiCr and Fe2O3.

Summary: A novel core-shell Fe3O4@black TiO2-x (Fe3O4@b-TiO2-x) heterostructure with unique multi-interfacial structure was successfully fabricated via a surface treatment strategy in vacuum, exhibiting a broadband microwave absorption capability. The enhanced microwave attenuation is attributed to the introduction of outer disordered TiO2-x thin layer and the multiple interfaces constructed by Fe3O4-TiO2 and TiO2-TiO2-x, as well as defect dipoles encapsulated within black TiO2-x layer. This design may pave a way to design broadband microwave absorbers based on core-shell functional structure.
