Summary: In this study, a BaTi0.91Sn0.08Zr0.01O3 (BTSZ) ceramic was prepared and its structural, dielectric, ferroelectric, and pyroelectric properties were studied. The ceramic exhibited phase transitions close to room temperature, resulting in improved piezoelectric, pyroelectric, and electrocaloric performance. The effects of electric field poling and the Olsen cycle on the ceramic's properties were also investigated.

Fracture behavior in electrically poled alkaline bismuth- and potassium-based lead-free piezoceramics using Vickers indentation

Xueyao Wang et al.

Summary: The fracture behavior of unpoled and electrically poled KNN and NBT-based lead-free piezoceramics was characterized in this study, showing that NBT-based ceramics have the largest fracture toughness in the unpoled state, while KNN and NBT ceramics exhibit large fracture toughness along the poling direction in the electrically poled state. These results are rationalized based on variations of remanent strain and process zone related to material texture and properties during crack propagation.
