New Insights into Baicalein's Effect on Chlorpyrifos-Induced Liver Injury in Carp: Involving Macrophage Polarization and Pyropto sis

Jing Liu et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanism by which Baicalein prevents Chlorpyrifos-induced hepatotoxic injury. The results showed that Baicalein can attenuate liver tissue damage caused by CPF and prevent macrophage polarization imbalance and hepatocyte pyroptosis by inhibiting the NF-kappa B pathway, thereby providing detoxification effects.

Identification of Scoparone from Chinese Olive Fruit as a Modulator of Macrophage Polarization

Yu-Te Yeh et al.

Summary: Through functional-oriented screening, we divided Chinese olive into several subfractions, and purified the active compounds using silica gel column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The resulting compound with high anti-inflammatory activity was identified as scoparone. Scoparone not only inhibited the secretion of nitric oxide and pro-inflammatory cytokines, but also promoted macrophages toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype.

The diverse roles of C-type lectin-like receptors in immunity

Michal Scur et al.

Summary: Our understanding of CTLRs has expanded beyond their initial roles in pathogen recognition, now encompassing scavenger receptor activity, cell death and cell transformation sensing, and immune response regulation. The diversity in expression and signaling activity among individual CTLR members, as well as the discovery of new receptor binding capabilities and interactions, cellular expression profiles, and receptor structures and signaling mechanisms, has revealed the defining roles of CTLRs in immunity. NK cell receptors, specifically the NKRP1 family of CTLRs, exemplify this functional diversity, displaying essential immune functions beyond NK cells. It is crucial to better understand the functional potential of these receptor families in immune defense and pathology, given the ever-expanding evidence for their involvement in various biological processes.

C-type lectin receptor CLEC4A2 promotes tissue adaptation of macrophages and protects against atherosclerosis

Inhye Park et al.

Summary: CLEC4A2 is a distinguishing feature of vascular resident macrophages that have athero-protective properties. It promotes monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation and is critical for maintaining vascular homeostasis. CLEC4A2 deficiency leads to dysfunctional cholesterol metabolism and worsens the development of atherosclerosis.

β-elemene regulates M1-M2 macrophage balance through the ERK/JNK/P38 MAPK signaling pathway

Yingyu Zhou et al.

Summary: Beta-elemene regulates the balance of proinflammatory cytokines in mouse white adipose tissue through MAPK signaling, affecting the imbalance of M1-M2 macrophages and inhibiting the phosphorylation of MAPK pathways. These results suggest that beta-elemene may be a potential therapeutic medicine for macrophage-mediated chronic diseases.
