The phase equilibria of the Fe-Mn-Zn system at 600°C were investigated, and the ε phase and three new ternary compounds were discovered.
The study of the phase equilibria of the Fe-Mn-Zn system is of great significance for understanding color hot-dip galvanizing. In this work, the phase equilibria of the Fe-Mn-Zn system at 600 & DEG;C were investigated through 30 alloys and 6 diffusion couples. Based on the results obtained, the isothermal section of the Fe-Mn-Zn system at 600 & DEG;C was proposed. Only the & epsilon; phase was found, while the & epsilon;1 and & epsilon;2 phases reported in the literature were not found. Three ternary compounds, & UGamma;& PRIME;, & tau;1, and & tau;2 phases, exist at 600 & DEG;C, among which & tau;1 and & tau;2 phases were newly discovered in this work. The crystal structures of the & tau;1 phase were also determined.
